Curt works to find innovative and pragmatic ways to push education as-is to co-create what’s next.”

Curt has always been fascinated in the social construction of learning – the collaborative nature of learning. He is an experienced educator with over 20 years of positive contributions to the field of teaching and learning as a teacher, school administrator, district administrator, lecturer at University of Wisconsin, Madison, and professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

As a researcher, Curt has participated in research related to game-theory, personalized learning, innovation in resource-constrained contexts, school leadership and human centered design. Through regional and global application, Curt is a member of the Qatar Foundation’s Agile Leaders of Learning Innovation Network (All-In) and previously a writer on the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards writing committee.

Curt has led capital improvement projects as both a client and as a district-level administrator – and brings unique perspectives of both roles to the leadership and management of large facilities projects. One of these projects was with Fielding International – as a client – with the design of the new 440,000 square foot Sun Prairie West High School. Many of Fielding’s Design Patterns were incorporated into West’s final design – perhaps most importantly the patterns of the learning community and knowledge market.

With a breadth of experience at all local levels of a school organization, knowledge of global trends in education as well as a background in research, Curt positions school leaders and educators to bring innovation to life through pragmatic and practical ideas and solutions.

Curt’s background includes 6-12 teaching (Science), principalships and district level administration in urban and suburban environments. Curt has a Masters in Ed Leadership from Northeastern Il. University and a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Curt has studied design for learning at Harvard’s Project Zero, the K12 Lab at Stanford d.school and holds certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt), Board Governance Strategy and Balanced Scorecard.
